RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) enables the contactless identification of textiles using radio-frequency technology.
Each item of laundry is equipped with a transponder with a unique identification number and can be automatically identified at any time.
Whether individual items or large quantities: RFID reads data contactlessly within seconds – even while processes are running.
Automate your laundry processes with RFID technology.
Identify, track and manage textiles completely digitally – quickly, reliably and error-free.

Reduces losses and saves costs
Textile identification is a matter of trust — especially where processes need to be automated, efficient and secure.
With THERMOTEX RFID solutions, you benefit from durable, robust and uniquely identifiable transponders specifically developed to meet the demands of professional laundries.
UHF technology – long range, fast data capture
The highly robust and industrial-laundry-resistant sewn-in transponders are made from proven, highly flexible base material and can be either patched onto or sewn into textiles. They are available in various sizes and versions and are ideal for both standard laundry and wet textiles.
We program and manage the identification number ranges for you, providing maximum security and reliability throughout your laundry processes.
HF for precise single-item applications, UHF for long ranges and bulk reading.
RFID technology (Radio-Frequency Identification) enables the contactless identification of objects using radio waves. A distinction is made between HF technology (High Frequency) for shorter distances and precise applications, and UHF technology (Ultra High Frequency), which is used for longer ranges and the identification of larger quantities of items. Suitable reading systems enable communication with these transponders and open up a wide range of applications.
With our THERMOTEX products, we are ready for the future.
Your benefits:
The UHF Box with automatic doors enables an efficient and error-free workflow by reliably detecting tagged textiles. During the reading process, the doors remain locked and only open once all items have been fully identified.
Various versions are available: for roll containers, for Euro pallets (L), and for Euro pallets with pallet trucks (XL), each with either one or two pairs of doors.
The transponders used to prevent losses and ensure the return of containers are either attached to the underside of the roll container or screwed directly onto the container. They enable a read/write range of 2–5 m, are suitable for mounting on metal using rivets, screws or industrial adhesive, and can optionally be equipped with laser engraving or laser marking as well as a container handle holder.
UHF transponders enable the contactless and automated identification of textiles over long distances of up to 6 metres. Thanks to reliable bulk reading, large quantities can be identified simultaneously, making processes such as goods receipt and dispatch or inventory management significantly more efficient. The robust transponders are resistant to industrial laundry processes, suitable for industrial ironing and can be used flexibly – either sewn in or patched on.
The photo shows a conveyor belt without a reading system on the left, and the same conveyor belt after the installation of a THERMOTEX reading system (Universal i4 with 4 antennas) on the right.
The antennas detect all items passing through this bottleneck (conveyor belt) in the soiled laundry area.
The antennas are positioned individually, tailored to the conditions and existing equipment at the customer’s site. For example, they can be installed around a door, at a bag lifting system or above a sorting table.
Our HF transponders enable the reliable and fully automated identification of textiles throughout the entire process. In combination with different reading systems – from workstation solutions to integrated conveyor systems – a wide range of applications can be implemented.
Thanks to our many years of experience, we support our customers in selecting the right technologies and integrating them optimally into their internal processes. Together, we develop solutions that are precisely tailored to the specific process requirements.
Product recommendations
To test our UHF transponders, we use a specially developed test chamber that enables measurements without disruptive external influences, ensuring reproducible and reliable results. This allows us to evaluate the actual performance of the transponders exclusively.
In industrial laundry processes, RFID transponders are exposed to extreme conditions, including water, chemicals, pressure, high temperatures and mechanical stress. Our transponders meet IP68 protection according to EN 60529 and are specifically designed to withstand these demanding conditions. The result is maximum reliability, even during washing, spinning and drying processes. Even under the most demanding operating conditions, the transponders remain permanently functional and reliably readable – for at least 200 wash cycles.
In addition, we use state-of-the-art reading devices and specialized measurement equipment for production testing and quality assurance. We check the correct programming and data content of the transponders as well as their technical performance, particularly their reading range. The products are also specifically exposed to thermal and mechanical stresses, comparable to a stress test. Products that pass these tests are designed for long-term use in outdoor environments at the customer’s site.
We develop all test procedures, test setups and technical solutions in-house. These include specially adapted reading devices with integrated dampers, which ensure that transponders are not read from a long distance but precisely at the designated test position.
